As of the latest forecast I checked, Saturday looks hot with only light/spotty rain chances later in the day, not a total washout — but this plan stays rain-safe anyway.

Best budget plan: free museum + free library

9:15 a.m. — Head to National Naval Aviation Museum

Open daily 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; admission and parking are free (NNAM visitor info).

Why I’d pick it: it’s the best value in Pensacola for kids — huge indoor aircraft, plenty to look at, and you can spend 2–3 hours without buying anything.

Important rainy-day caveat: it’s on NAS Pensacola. Adults 18+ need a REAL ID or valid U.S. passport, and public access is through the West Gate from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. (base access details). No backpacks/coolers inside; diaper/medical bags are exceptions. Pack snacks, but plan to eat them in the car before/after, not inside.

Local tip: go early. If weather gets ugly or parking fills, base access can slow down. The museum itself is big enough that kids can move around without feeling trapped.

12:15 p.m. — Cheap lunch

Best budget move: packed lunch in the car after the museum. If you’d rather eat out, check Sonny’s BBQ, 630 N. Best paid pick for younger kids: Pensacola Children’s Museum

Best for: kids about 0–8. The museum itself says it is intended for children 0–8, so if one child is 9 and “too big” for pretend play, choose the MESS Hall instead.

Better for older elementary kids, but pricier: Pensacola MESS Hall
