Question
boating conditions today
Answer
Good boating day overall — light wind and small seas, with the main watch-out being pop-up storms.
As of the NOAA/NWS marine forecast updated 3:02 AM CDT Thu, Aug. 6 for the Pensacola-area coastal waters:
- Pensacola Bay / protected waters: light chop to smooth conditions
- Nearshore Gulf: SE winds around 5 knots
- Seas: 1 foot or less
- Tonight: still SE around 5 knots, seas 1 foot or less
- Caution: showers/thunderstorms can pop up, especially later — winds and seas will be higher near storms

Local pulse lines up too: today’s Pensacola Pulse says light winds around 5 knots and waves 1 foot or less across Pensacola Bay. A member also reported Sand Island slide is up and running today around 8:51 AM — unverified but useful if you’re headed that way.
My call: great morning/early afternoon bay day for cruising, Sand Island, or a short Gulf run if radar stays clean. I’d keep a close eye west/southwest for thunderheads and be ready to head in quickly if storms build.
👉 Are you launching from Pensacola, Navy Point, Shoreline/Gulf Breeze, or heading out Pensacola Pass?
