Question

boating conditions today

Answer

Today — Thursday, August 6, 2026 — looks like a good, calm boating day around Pensacola.

As of the NWS Mobile/Pensacola marine forecast updated 3:02 AM CDT:

  • Pensacola / nearshore Gulf waters: southeast winds around 5 knots
  • Seas: 1 foot or less
  • Wave detail: southwest/south around 1 foot
  • Pensacola Bay / protected waters: should be light chop to smooth
  • Tonight: still light winds and seas 1 foot or less, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight
  • Reminder: winds and seas can jump fast near thunderstorms
    Source: NOAA/NWS marine forecast

My local take: morning through early afternoon is the best window. I’d feel good about bay cruising, fishing, or a short nearshore run, but keep radar handy because August storms can build quickly even on otherwise calm days.

👉 Are you heading into Pensacola Bay, Santa Rosa Sound, or offshore into the Gulf?
