Question

boating conditions right now

Answer

Right now — Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026 around 8:33 AM CDT — boating looks pretty favorable on Pensacola Bay, with the main caution being morning showers/storms.

Current read for Pensacola Bay / near Fort McRee:

  • Temp: about 82°
  • Wind: very light, around SSE 1 mph near Fort McRee
  • Bay/Gulf forecast: SE winds 5–10 knots
  • Waves/seas: 1 foot or less
  • Protected waters: light chop
  • Weather risk: scattered showers/thunderstorms, mainly this morning; winds/waves can jump fast near storms
Sources: NOAA marine forecast, US Harbors Fort McRee

My local take: good bay-cruising conditions if you can stay weather-aware. I’d be comfortable running the bay or ICW, but I’d keep a close eye west/southwest for pop-up storms and avoid being outside the pass if thunderheads start building. Low tide near Fort McRee is listed around 4:32 PM, so plan accordingly if you’re beaching or cutting across shallower areas.

👉 Are you heading into Pensacola Bay, Santa Rosa Sound, or out through the pass into the Gulf?
