Question

Today’s boating forcast

Answer

For today, Friday, August 7, 2026, boating looks generally favorable on Pensacola Bay / Santa Rosa Sound, but keep an eye on pop-up storms.

Pensacola Bay forecast — as of NOAA’s latest marine update shown this morning:

  • Wind: east/southeast around 5–10 knots
  • Bay waves: 1 foot or less
  • Chop: light; smooth at times
  • Rain/storms: slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly earlier/through parts of the day
  • Caution: winds and waves can jump quickly near thunderstorms

If you’re going offshore / 20–60 NM: expect a little more motion — east winds 5–10 knots, briefly 10–15 knots early afternoon, seas around 2 feet, with a chance of showers/storms until late afternoon. Source: Destin to Pensacola offshore marine forecast

Local call: Bay cruising, Sand Island, or Santa Rosa Sound should be pretty comfortable if you watch radar. I’d avoid getting far from cover if storms start building — August cells can go from “nothing” to nasty fast.

👉 Are you planning to stay in the bay/Sound, or run offshore into the Gulf today?
