Yes—use Google Earth’s Measure tool to trace the part of the yard you’re planting, and it will calculate the square footage. Google notes it is most accurate in a top-down view and doesn’t account for elevation. Google’s instructions.

1. Open Google Earth on a computer and search your address.
2. Click Measure in the left menu.
3. Click around the edges of the lawn, bed, or garden area; connect the last point back to the first to close the shape.
4. Read the area result and select square feet as the unit.

For bulk compost, measure only the area you’ll amend—not the house, driveway, or existing hardscape. Send me the square footage and planned depth (usually 1–2 inches), and I’ll convert it to cubic yards to order.
