Question

What changes to PSC leadership have happened this past few months, and what changes have been announced.

Answer

Here’s the recent PSC leadership picture, as of October 20, 2026:

  • J. Alex Kelly was selected as Pensacola State College’s next president in September, with the Board of Trustees approving him unanimously to succeed longtime president Dr. Ed Meadows. WEAR’s announcement

  • Dr. Ed Meadows announced his retirement in April after 18 years as president. PSC’s student paper reported the retirement as effective December 31, 2026. The Corsair’s presidential-search tracker

  • On Monday, October 19, the day reporting says Kelly began his role, two senior leaders were removed from their active posts:

    • Grover Robinson IV, PSC’s governmental-affairs lobbyist and legislative liaison, was placed on leave and his contract will not be renewed.
    • Erin Spicer, vice president of academic and student affairs, was also placed on leave and her contract will not be renewed.
    • PSC spokeswoman Sheila Nichols said their existing contracts will be honored through June 30. Pensacola News Journal report
  • Early reports indicated Anita Kovacs might also have been terminated, but PSC said that was incorrect and that she remains employed.

What has been announced vs. what has not: PSC has announced the presidential transition and confirmed Robinson’s and Spicer’s leave/non-renewal status. The reporting available does not identify successors for either position or announce a wider administrative restructuring. The timing around Meadows’ formal retirement date and Kelly’s assumption of duties deserves watching, since the publicly reported dates appear to overlap.
